CP donates US$1 million to charities helping in the Covid-19 battle
CANADIAN Pacific (CP) is donating US$1 million to four North American charities working on the front lines to help people impacted by Covid-19.
In Canada, CP will donate C$350,000 (US$249,000) to The Frontline Fund and C$250,000 to Food Banks Canada. In the US, CP will donate US$250,000 to Feeding America and up to US$150,000 in matching funds to the American Red Cross.
"Our CP family is honoured to help frontline workers and volunteers as they courageously work day-and-night to keep up with unprecedented need," said CP president and CEO Keith Creel. "By providing food to North Americans who are in need and critical supplies and support to frontline service providers, these charities are making a difference. We hope our donations will assist these organisations in reaching those who are most vulnerable and keeping more people safe. Our thoughts, prayers and sincere gratitude are with every person who is out there working in the service of others."
CP has been inspired by support shown to its own frontline workers as they continue to perform critical work across North America throughout the crisis. The company is committed to doing its part to help people struggling with the economic impacts of Covid-19 in the more than 1,100 communities it serves and beyond, the railway said in a statement.
"The way communities in North America and around the world have come together is remarkable," Mr Creel said. "Through our community investment programme CP Has Heart, we remain committed to giving back to communities across our network and are incredibly proud to be supporting the extraordinary response to Covid-19."
