US asks court to quash Huawei lawsuit on national security grounds
THE US Government filed a motion asking for the dismissal of a lawsuit by Shenzhen telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies that claimed the United States had acted illegally when it blacklisted Huawei's products, Reuters reports.
Huawei sued the US Government in early March, in a complaint filed in a federal court in Texas, saying that a law limiting its American business was unconstitutional. The company has been involved with the current Sino-American trade war.
Despite this, US President Donald Trump recently agreed to loosen restrictions on Huawei after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit.
The US Government also said that because the company was still blacklisted, licence requests from American firms companies seeking to import products to Huawei are being reviewed "under the highest national security scrutiny."
