Recently, several shipping companies have announced their first round of rate adjustment plans for December. MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk and other companies continue to adjust freight rates on some routes, involving routes to Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa and other regions.
CMA CGM announced on November 19th that it will increase the FAK rates for the Far East to the Mediterranean and North Africa routes from December 1st to 14th, 2025, with the maximum rate reaching $6,300 per 40-foot container.MSC announced that it will adjust the new freight rates from Far East ports to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean region starting from December 1st. The prices include basic ocean freight and surcharges: Global Fuel Surcharge $79 per TEU; Emission Control Area Surcharge $15 per TEU for the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, and $52 per TEU for other Northern European countries; Carbon Limitation Surcharge $20 per TEU; Carbon Audit Surcharge $57 per TEU for Northern Europe and $85 per TEU for the Mediterranean. FAK rates do not include dangerous goods and high-value cargo.Hapag-Lloyd will increase the FAK rates between the Far East and Europe, effective from December 1st, applicable to all types of container transportation.
Maersk has imposed congestion charges on goods transported from the Middle East and the Far East to Beira Port in Mozambique, effective on December 25th. Additionally, a scanning fee of 25 euros per container will be collected in Romania starting from December 1st.These adjustments reflect the ongoing fluctuation in shipping market rates.
