At around 9 PM Beijing time on March 5, a very large container ship named MSC ISTANBUL, with a capacity of 16,652 TEU, ran aground while passing through the Suez Canal on its way from Asia to Europe.
The MSC ISTANBUL suddenly ran aground, leaving the“NYK ORION” behind almost rear-ended, and traffic on the Suez Canal northbound was blocked.
At around 7:30 am Beijing time on March 6, MSC ISTANBUL, with the help of tugs, resurfaced and resumed moving, passing through the canal without other incidents.
