Evergreen places US$1.1b order for 24 box ships at Huangpu Wenchong

TAIWAN's Evergreen Marine Asia, a subsidiary of Evergreen Marine, is planning to build 24 box ships at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in China, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
The 24 containership newbuildings include two 1,800 TEU boxships, eleven 2,300 TEU boxships and eleven 3,000 TEU boxships and the total contract value is about US$1.1 billion.
Meeting the latest requirements of environment protection and carbon emissions, the vessels are expected to be deployed on coastal services upon delivery. Currently, Evergreen Marine operates a fleet of 201 vessels, including 115 owned containerships.
